Happy feet and lucky me...

Life has many sides. During the last few days I have been on a great vacation with my partner and dogs, had my birthday, visited my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, and today I had surgery on my foot. All in all 75 % positive things and 25% less positive...

Grrrrrr...

The last thing first - and also because I am craving for sympathy and attention - it was a planned surgery. Last year I had surgery on both feet, and the orthopedic surgeon put in some supporting rods that now were to be removed. As I have two feet and two big toes like most other people, I will have another surgery in two weeks. Ouch...
...the positive thing about this is that I get to spend more time with Skip the puppy, and will have time to do some stitchery :-)

Marit had written something about making me a birthday present on her blog, but was afraid I would laugh when I saw the thing. Yes I did laugh, but with joy! A sewing Apple! Including threads and needles. The pattern is from Straight Stitch Society

I guess she leans on the society's manifesto no.5 : don't let anyone talk trash about your sewing skills. Especially your mother.

Litt for ujevnt. (ikke min fei! Æresord!) Men du verden så lett!

Many hours in the passenger's seat on our way to Sweden made good time for knitting the dress for the wee one. But I am not happy with the way the yarn from Nostebarn knitted, a bit to uneven. (it is not my fault! Honestly!) But it is very light.

The big positive surprise when I got home was the giveaway I had won from Barb in Australia
The parcel had arrived, and in addition to the book that was the real gift, she had put in a lot of fabrics. Large pieces! And very cute also! I was speechless :-). I am sure I will make several of the projects in the book, as my partner and I will get a total of 4 grandchildren this year. Lucky us - we know!

  2. It is a good reason to have your feet up and rest-- and therefore catch up on sewing and knitting. All the best with the next operation as well. Your dog looks gorgeous-- great company, aren't they?

  8. Sweet dress. When I am unhappy with an edge I sometimes use shirring elastic to give it a different finish. What a lovely gift of fabric. I am especially taken with the house backpacks on the cover of the book you won. I like the idea of children being a little like snails carrying their homes. :-)

Oh my! I had not seen a sewing apple before- great idea. I would smile too.
